DALLAS, TX — Energy Education announced today that two clients have been honored by the United States Environmental Protection Agency with the prestigious 2009 ENERGY STAR Congregation Award. First Baptist Church of Dallas, Texas and First Baptist Church of Springdale, Arkansas, including The Church at Pinnacle Hills campus in Rogers, Arkansas, are being recognized for their outstanding achievement in energy conservation over the last two years.
“We are extremely proud of our partnership with both of these churches and the savings they are generating that can stay where it is most beneficial — in their ministerial budgets,” said Dr. William S. Spears, CEO and Founder of Energy Education. “Being recognized by the United States Environmental Protection Agency is a tremendous validation of each ministry’s dedication to energy conservation, being good stewards of their finances, reducing their carbon footprint and their partnership with Energy Education.”
"The EPA applauds Energy Education in working with these organizations toward preserving our environment and our energy resources," said Jerry Lawson, National Manager, ENERGY STAR Congregations. "Whether large congregations with a school, or a small group, these energy all-stars demonstrate that a brighter future starts with each of us."
These are the second and third Energy Education large church clients in the past three years to be honored with the ENERGY STAR Congregation Award. Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano, Texas received the distinction in 2007.
