Energy Education Media Fact Sheet
Through its Energy Management Cost Avoidance Program, the Escambia County School District has saved $2,581,956 in energy costs for 2006.
This is a cost savings of almost 21 percent, and was a combination of electrical, natural gas and water consumption savings.
The school district’s Energy Management Department implemented a comprehensive behavior-based energy conservation program in cooperation with Energy Education Inc. (EEI).
Working with EEI, energy managers Cheryl Meyers and Jackie Smith implemented the energy savings program for the school district and provided continuous energy conservation guidance and assistance to all district staff. On-call training and support was also made available through the Energy Management Office.
The energy managers provided school-based personnel as well as district staff with energy saving techniques to use during the time schools and/or district offices were closed, such as during Fall Break, Winter Break, and even weekends. By continuing these energy savings measures, the school district anticipates similar savings for 2007.
