Our clients’ success

Nearly every day, a newspaper somewhere in the country is carrying a story about the success of our clients’ energy conservation programs. Below are just a few examples of the great work they are doing, and the privilege it is to serve them in such tangible, noteworthy ways.

Roanoke, VA - On April 25, 2002, Roanoke County Schools was the first in the state to receive Energy Education's Founder's Circle award, which recognized the district for achieving more than $1 million in energy cost savings.

On Thursday, January 9, Roanoke County Schools achieved yet another first in energy conservation when the district's Oak Grove Elementary School and the School Administration Building were awarded Energy Star designations by Rebuild America. These are the first school buildings in the state to receive the Energy Star designation.

"Receiving the Energy Star designation is an important milestone for us," commented Roanoke County Schools' Energy Manager Richard Kelly. "But even more important is the fact that our energy conservation program has saved our schools more than $1.8 million in four years, even though utility rates increased and we added two new schools and installed 1200 additional computers. The best news is that these savings will continue to grow, with an additional savings of nearly $1 million more in the next three years." The money saved is redirected into the district's general educational fund where it can be used for a wide variety of educational resources.

Energy Education, Inc. designs and implements customized energy conservation programs for school districts nationwide. They were hired by Roanoke County Schools in 1998. Though their service contract ended in 2002, Energy Education consulting staff members continue to assist the school district in its energy conservation efforts as needed, and at no additional charge to the district.
